Review Summary

Picture Quality
The overall picture quality of the Vizio XVT3SV is excellent. The LED array comprised of 120 zones enabe it to produce very deep level of black which beats all edge-lit sets including the 3D-capable Samsung UNC8000 series. Color accuracy is also one of the best among all HDTV available today.

On the bad side, while blooming is a known issue for local-dimming sets, experts found that the XVT3SV has more blooming than some other local dimming LEDs.

Features
Other than not being not capable, the Vizio XVT3SV is packed with all the great features you would expect on a modern HDTV, including a multitude of I/O connections, a Bluetooth remote with full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi Integration, and Vizio Interactve Apps (VIA) which offers a generous selection of Web services. It has 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports which is relatively more than other HDTVs.

Design
Design is not the strength of this LED set. While Vizio updated the looks of this latest XVT model with silver speaker bar and a few rounded edges on the side of the bezel, its cabinet design is still not as stylish as other LED TV such as those from Samsung. Also, the stand that does not swivel is something that Vizio could improve on.

Vizio has however done the right decision by putting a matte screen, which is rare among high-end LEDs today, on the XVT3SV. It means superior bright-room performance compared with just about anything available.

Conclusion
The Vizio XVT3SV series LED TV, available in 42, 47, and 55-inches, is a great choice for those who are looking for a big screen HDTV but with limited budget (below $2000). It does not has 3D features and its external design might not impress your friends, but this full array local dimming LED TV produce excellent picture quality and loaded with all kinds of goodies which you can hardly find other LED TV on the market with this many features and a screen this large at its price.

Sony Bravia EX700 Series LED TV

The Sony Bravia EX700 model is one of Sony’s 2010 midrange edge-lit LED-based LCD. While its picture quality is not much better than other LED TV models on the market, its eco-friendliness and Internet video (including Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand) will attract a lot of buyers. Also, it comes with the Presence Sensor which will turn off the picture temporarily if you leave the room, saving significant amounts of power. If the sensor detects movement again within 30 minutes, the TV turns back on. If not, it shuts itself off completely. If you have kids who wander off leaving the TV on then you will appreciate this feature.

The Vizio 2XVT Series is another full array local dimming LED TV which produces relatively deep black levels. Its picture quality is said to be one of the best after the Samsung UNB8500 and LG Infinia LE8500, and it has the advantage of being cheaper than the those 2 models from Samsung and LG. It’s design is however not as sexy as the other two models as its panel is 5-inch deep. Other great feature about this LED TV includes great streaming and widget content via well-integrated Apps platform, unique Bluetooth remote with slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and integrated Wi-Fi.

The Vizio 2XVT Series is available in 2 sizes: 47-inch (SV472XVT) and 55-inch (VF552XVT). There’s a 42-inch model, VF552XVT, which does not have LED backlight.

The Sharp AQUOS LC-LE700UN Series is an average LED TV — it’s not super slim like the Samsung LED TVs, and its picture quality is not the best. It’s neither edge-lit nor a full-array local dimming LED TV. Its LED elements are arranged behind the screen, as opposed to the edge, but they are incapable of dimming or brightening individually. Like a standard fluorescent-backlit LCD, the Sharp’s LED backlight must dim or brighten all at once. This is one of the more affordable model of LED TV from Samsung. The UNC6300 Series is an edge-lit (without precision dimming) LED TV, so the quality is not as good as the local dimming model (UNB8500) or the edge-lit precision dimming model (UNC6800), but it still produce deeper black level (better picture quality) than the traditional LCD TV. If you are not a videophile, the black level difference between the edge-lit and local dimming TV will not bother you much. What’s great about edge-lit LED TV is that it can be really slim and thus a super sleek design. The 46-inch model currently cost only around $1370 if you order it from Amazon — one of the best choice for average user.
